I sit quietly at night after the house is still and dimly lit and I exhale after the long fast paced day has gone to night… and I count my blessings… I am so grateful to God and all he has given to me. If measured by man they would consider it few but as I see it I consider my blessings to be wonderful and bountiful. This is all that I know and all that I want. This small space that is my home and call it my own… these tiny humans God has trusted me to grow, teach and nurture… a man that calls me queen and a boss that depends on me to save lives as a nurse when needed and a family whom I was born to. This is all that I want… and I want all that I have. Living in the moment and want what you have … But that is just advice from me to you the things that have satisfied my soul may not satisfy yours..
I live an extremely busy life. If I didn’t stay organized everything and everyone would fall apart. I work 60 hours a week, have a sewing business, a candle business and I home school my children. How do I do this? It sounds impossible right? I run my life on written schedules and so does everyone else in the house. I have a daily docket that I keep on me at all times that is for my personal use. My children have a schedule on the fridge for home schedules and one in their binder for school. I have a cleaning schedule that spreads the cleaning, shopping and laundry out over a five day span so nothing ever gets forgotten and everything stays clean and organized except the kids room and they are well….boys.
I have a budget that I use weekly as well. I plan my meals in 3 day intervals. I plan any outings even down to our bike rides in the park. I schedule time for myself and encourage everyone in the house to do the same. Once a week a sew 3 or 4 outfits that takes 6 hours and make 70 candles in 5 hours. I even schedule and plan my blogging times and subjects. It sounds very constricting but it has brought us freedom because we dont spend time finding things or heavy cleaning.

I could sit and just relax.. If I could just get a minute I would eat right, If I could just get a minute I could pray more, or take a hike, or a bike ride, watch a movie on netflix un interupted I could eat cotton candy ice cream, or shave my legs, or get my nails done, or get my hair done, or do my eyebrows, or I could take a walk, or meditate, exercise more, educate myself more…. If I could just get a minute I could just rest….. But with all that goes into my life the exhausting, wonderful, hard, sweet, bitter journey that is my life I look around and If I could just get a minute I could be more thankful…. That I have my wonderful husband that is so much work training him..lol, My wonderful kids that want to play monopoly with me, my kids that are very disciplined and do their homeschooling with little direction, I would be thankful that my grownd daughters are doing wonderful in life,I would be thankful I have a home office that is quiet and calming to do my home school lessons and budgets for our family, I would be thankful for my sewing room that I can sew for my creative outlet, I would be thankful that I have a candle business that in which I produce natural candles people can enjoy, I would be thankful I am a private nurse, I would be thankful I am a Nursing supervisor in a wonderful facility, I would be thankful I love to can my own food and it nourishes my family from my hands, I would be thankful that I can buy for my grandmother what ever she wishes and see her smile, I would be thankful that I spoil my wonderful mother, I would be thankful to have a wonderful loving husband that spoils me, and supports me in all I do… I would be thankful that I get just a minute in this wonderful life God has chosen for me…
This is my home office. When I am not at work I spend many hours here alone in this small space surrounded by my photo’s and my nursing gear. I work outside the home but all the work inside our home to keep it running smooth .. well I spend equal or more time on that. From schedules, budgets, bill paying, scripture reading, family home evening planning, homeschool lesson planning and records, grocery lists, recipes, the list never ends.
I rarely see anyone poke their head in the door to see if I am ok, or if I need help, no one comes to say hi.. but no one thinks of all the things that go on in this room, I wonder do they think it transpires by magic? My oldest daughters are grown and have lives of their own so now it is just the boys and I and I must admit it is a lonely place to be sometimes.
So behind the scenes… the mom and the wife… the teacher… the accountant… we are all the same and we are sometimes stranded in this lonely role… with just our blog followers to listen to us complain…lol
I never imagined so much goes into homeschooling. I spend lots of time going over grade appropriate materials, grading, attendance records, daily tasks, just planning in general. But I love the fact that my children are learning in a safe, stress free environment learning what they need to learn . I started on this journey not sure about how well we would handle it. But it turns out we are pretty good at it.
I don’t have a lot of trouble getting them started or staying on task. They are really involved and eager to learn. I think we are getting the hang of this.. Here are some essentials for our homeschool… Excuse the handwriting but my dominant hand was crushed in a horseback riding accident… I kinda suck writing.. lol… Yes I could type but I need to feel the pen in my hand even though it looks rough. These forms cannot be copied please.. not that you would want to but just as a precaution. Just some ideas that some of you new homeschoolers could use. Hope this helps.. See how happy they are even in the morning … well the tween sits up too late… sometimes..
I am working two jobs now. Plus I have my simply Mommy sewing business and my Ribbons and Pearls Inc. Candle business. I literally meet myself in the middle! I am so pressed for time now. Not only do I run two business’s I also do homeschooling. I am meeting myself in the middle!
How? I make lesson plans for 6 to 8 weeks.. sew 6 to 7 out fits a week and 70 candles a week… Plus work 60 hours.,, how? I have no idea. But most women do the same thing. I dont know how we do what we do. We are literally out of this world. How else would we accomplish the things we do?
I can hold on …. I know I can…. for me for them… I can…
